• Exfoliate entire body with exfoliating gloves or exfoliating scrub
• Shave to remove unwanted body hair (it is recommended that waxing be done at least 48 hours prior to spray tanning)
• Moisturize thoroughly before bed to give an extra boost of moisture to your skin
• Shower as normal to remove any unwanted residues and return your skin to its cleanest state.
• Avoid exfoliating and shaving immediately before appointment. (Minimum 2 hours prior, to allow skin to recover and pores to close).
• Do not use Dove soap or body wash. It creates a barrier on the skin.
• Do not apply lotion, deodorant, make up, oils, perfume, or moisturizers: these will create a barrier on your skin. Deodorant will also turn green when sprayed with tanning solution.
• Bring dark, LOOSE fitting clothes to put on after your tan. Avoid leggings, jeans, sports bras or anything that rubs.
• Wear flip flops or shoes that easily slip on and off with as little rubbing on your feet as possible
• Avoid anything that will get your spray tan wet (exercising, swimming, sweating, rain, wet dog noses/kisses, etc.)
• Do not apply lotion, oils, perfume, make up, or deodorant
• Avoid the urge to keep touching your skin to check your tan, this will transfer solution to your palms
• Use caution when holding or handling small children - tanning solution will transfer to little hands too!
• When it is time to rinse off: USE WATER ONLY. Do not use soap or shampoo until 24 hrs after you were sprayed
• Moisturize frequently with a spray tan safe moisturizer. (Hempz and Cetaphil are two of my favorites.)
• Do not use moisturizers containing mineral oil. They can strip your tan.
• Apply additional moisturizer after anything that will dry out your skin (working out, ocean water, hot tubs, chlorine pools, excessive sweating, etc.)
• Use an oil free, water-resistant sunscreen before going into the ocean, swimming pool, or hot tub to protect your tan and prevent fading from chlorine and/or salt water.
